Jaci’s intro video

objective

Create a video for Jaci Cleveland’s Instagram account that introduces who she is, what she enjoys about where she lives, and what she specifically enjoys about working in real estate. Jaci didn’t want to talk to the camera so we went with the B-Roll + VoiceOver option.

She recorded it section by section, and I applied placed the relevant b-roll we captured over her talking.

A great option for anyone that doesn’t want to sit still and talk to a camera.

Pre-production

I met with Jaci to go over what aesthetic she liked, what she didn’t like, and discussed the concept of the video to create the shot-list.

Since she wanted some B-roll of her shopping in her town, we confirmed via email that it was okay for us to come by a decor store to briefly film. (We made sure to buy something as well.) If you want to film at a local business, they are usually more than happy to accommodate, and they’ll even share the content we capture. (Remember, every business is looking for content to share/create these days.) .

I filmed a mixture of shots, using the shot list we created as a guide. Having a script and shot list prepared before filming is pivotal when it comes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the b-roll captured. I used my go-to camera set up for all of the shots, which I outline below. On top of my usual setup, I brought a small light and diffuser to make sure we could make the interior shots look better by evening out the lighting where natural light wasn’t sufficient.

We were in and out of the store within 10 minutes. It could have been even quicker but they were midwest friendly and we all chatted about the area, videos, real estate, and small talk.

Total time of production was 2 hours and that included downtown Zionsville to walk around and pop in the the decor store she loves

equipment used

Camera: Sony a7RV

Lens: Sigma 24-70 2.8

Variable ND Filter: K&F Concept

Gimbal: DJI RS4

Light: Amaran 60w

Diffuser: Neewer 27” Globe Diffuser

Overall it’s a simple and effective set up that I’d recommend to any videographer. Keeping things simple and light often allows for more flexibility when filming.

Post-Production

We did one round of revisions where we tweaked some text, and swapped out a couple of shots with some alternative shots captured during production. One round of revisions is pretty standard when it comes to a project with a shot-list.  The shot list helped us all stay on the same page and within budget throughout the whole process.

The more preparation you do up front = a faster turnaround time and cost savings from not having to make multiple rounds of revisions.

She posted this on her Instagram and personal Facebook page as a Reel. The comment section reflects the effectiveness of the video as it is full of love, praise, and positivity that would be great for any prospective client to see.
